Nickel Metal MSDS
Product contains elemental Nickel CAS No:7440-02-0 (Ni) minimum of 99.98% plus traces of other elements.
It is a very hard, ferro-magnetic metallic white metal with a hint of gold colour, solid and/or powder used for plating other metals plus applications in chemistry.
Toxicology
Product is known to cause contact dermatitis in many humans. It may irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. It can damage the Kidneys and liver.
The compounds of Nickel are known carcinogens. Care must be taken handling, using and disposing of this product.
It can be irritating to eyes and skin.
May be harmful if ingested or inhaled
First Aid Measures
Eye Contact: flush the eyes with plenty of water for a minimum of 15 minutes, in case of direct eye contact, seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: In case of direct contact, the affected person should wash the contaminated area with soap and water if any reaction is noticed, seek medical attention.
Inhalation (for powder): Move to fresh air, seek medical attention.
Ingestion: One should immediately seek medical attention in case of accidental ingestion, inform doctors the patient has ingested metallic nickel.
Personal Safety Measures
Care should be taken to avoid direct skin and eye contact. Proper gloves, protective clothing and goggles are essential.
Storage Instruction
This product should be stored in in a cool and dry place. Avoid generating dust.
Fire Hazards and Fire Fighting Measures
This is not an inflammable substance, it will not contribute to a fire.
Accidental Release Measure
In case of accidental spillage or leakage, the spilled material should be cleaned up as with any other metal.
