Antimony Metal MSDS
Product contains elemental Antimony CAS No: 7440-36-0 (Sb) minimum of 99.65% plus traces of other elements (mostly As & Pb).
It is a brittle yet hard, silvery solid and/or powder used for alloying lead and other metals plus applications in chemistry.
Toxicology
Product is known to be an irritant, toxic and possible carcinogen. Care must be taken handling, using and disposing of this product.
It is irritating to eyes and skin.
May be harmful if ingested or inhaled
First Aid Measures
Eye Contact: flush the eyes with plenty of water in case of direct eye contact, seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: In case of direct contact, the affected person should wash the contaminated area with soap and water.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air, seek medical attention.
Ingestion: One should immediately seek medical attention in case of accidental ingestion, inform doctors the patient has ingested elemental antimony.
Personal Safety Measures
Care should be taken to avoid direct skin and eye contact. Proper gloves, protective clothing and goggles are essential. This product can be dusty, proper dust protection and/or extractors are recommended.
Storage Instruction
This product should be stored in sealed containers in a cool and dry place.
Fire Hazards and Fire Fighting Measures
This is not an inflammable substance, it will not contribute to a fire. Antimony and the Oxides formed may contribute a health and environmental hazard in a fire
Accidental Release Measure
In case of accidental spillage or leakage, the spilled material should be cleaned up with damp paper towelling. Water and detergent should be used to clean the surface. The spilled product and any contaminated materials should be disposed of in a plastic bag.
