Hyalite Opal -AN on Basalt, Ballarat Victoria Australia 21084
This is a specimen of Opal-AN found in Alfredton, a suburb of Ballarat from a find several years ago, the site is no longer accessible as it is now covered in houses. This specimen shows nice, typical form of transparent, colourless Hyalite opal on a flat chip of hard grey basalt. There are a lot of other crystals on it (Augite, Hematite and others) but these need magnification to appreciate. The opal sits out on end of the stone, it displays well. Specimen is 29mm x 22mm by 9mm.
